Editorial Standards

Franklin's current newsroom workflow is designed for source-backed analysis. It does not present automated summaries as original reporting.

Evidence and attribution

Material claims must be traceable to the listed sources. New newsroom articles must cite at least two distinct source domains and, when available, the original announcement, filing, paper, dataset, or other primary document. Claims from a company, researcher, or publication remain attributed to that source.

What Franklin adds

We publish an analysis only when Franklin adds something useful, such as a comparison, timeline, benchmark reading, tested tool, or a clear explanation of what changes for users. Rewording another article is not enough.

AI assistance

We may use AI during research and drafting. Automated checks flag missing source coverage, unsupported claims identified during assessment, duplicate coverage, and high-risk topics. New newsroom candidates that fail these checks stay unpublished. High-risk medical, legal, financial, political, safety, and critical-security coverage requires an administrator's recorded review before publication. Automated checks can miss errors.

Authorship and editing

Franklin is accountable for articles credited to the Franklin profile. “Edited by” appears only after a recorded human review. A page does not claim personal testing, interviews, surveys, or original data collection unless that work actually occurred and is described.

Updates

The published date records when an article went live. An updated date appears only after a later substantive change. Dates are not changed solely to make an article appear fresh.

Older news summaries may predate this workflow. They are labeled separately and are being reviewed against the current standard.
