An agent's memory can contain the right facts and still retrieve an inconsistent combination of them. The ActionRAG paper addresses two sources of that problem: indexing that splits or merges entities incorrectly, and retrieval that accepts initial similarity scores without checking nearby relationships.
Reconsider the initial evidence set
ActionRAG reconciles type labels and uses tiered entity resolution during indexing. At query time, entity and triple retrieval form an initial evidence set and a bounded local graph. Query-conditioned diffusion then refines the scores using the structure of nearby paths.
The design includes seed protection, hub-penalized flux and triple materialization. These components aim to preserve directly retrieved evidence while recovering connections that an initial similarity search missed. The contribution is the combined indexing and retrieval process, rather than simply storing more interaction history.
Read the accuracy and cost figures in their stated scope
On MemoryAgentBench, which covers retrieval, conflict resolution, long-range understanding and test-time learning, ActionRAG reports average accuracy of 55.1 across eight deterministic-scoring columns. That is 5.4 points above the strongest retrieval-based memory baseline in the comparison.
The cost figures have a narrower scope. Mean synthesis cost stays below $0.001 per query on the four reported cost columns under the benchmark's accounting. The sum of separately measured retrieval-side p99 components is 440.7 milliseconds on the authors' consumer Apple Silicon setup. A sum of component measurements is not an observed end-to-end latency guarantee.
Evaluate consistency as well as successful recall
A useful reproduction should include repeated entity names, conflicting updates and questions that depend on several linked facts. Inspect which evidence survived refinement and whether a highly connected hub displaced a more direct observation.
Keep indexing errors separate from failures during query-time retrieval. The paper's results support examining how those stages interact, while performance on a different memory history, model or machine needs its own measurement.
