Apple is testing two Audio Intelligence features in the watchOS 27.3 developer beta: Siri Recap and Live Rewind. The Verge reports that the first produces conversation summaries while the second retrieves a text snippet from the previous fifteen seconds of detected audio.
Two different ways to revisit a conversation
Live Rewind is described as a way to recover something just said. A double-press of the Digital Crown brings up the recent text, which can be discussed with Siri or saved for later.
Siri Recap instead produces a title and key points after a conversation when the feature is enabled. The difference is between recovering a short recent passage and reviewing a broader summary. Neither output should be assumed to preserve every detail of the original exchange.
What Apple says about audio handling
The report cites Apple's privacy overview, which says raw audio is handled in dedicated hardware, is not saved as a file and is not accessible to the operating system, apps or Apple. Those are vendor descriptions of the design, rather than an independent technical audit by Franklin.
Apple also describes end-to-end encrypted syncing for saved recap summaries and rewind snippets when the user has iCloud with two-factor authentication and a device passcode. The stated conditions matter; they should not be collapsed into an unconditional claim about every possible configuration.
Availability is still a beta question
The announcement concerns developer testing. It does not establish that the features are already available to everyone on a stable watchOS release or that every Watch supports them.
The practical test
A meaningful evaluation would check names, numbers and decisions against what was actually said, as well as how clearly people understand when the feature is active. A useful recap can reduce the effort of remembering a conversation, but it still needs to be judged as an interpretation of captured speech.
