Recall.ai supplies infrastructure for applications that capture meeting recordings, transcripts and metadata. Its official overview describes a Meeting Bot API, a Desktop Recording SDK and a Calendar API. It is relevant to developers building meeting products rather than users choosing only a finished note-taking app.

Choose a recording route

The Meeting Bot API records through a bot joining a video conference. The Desktop Recording SDK captures conversations through a desktop application without a bot appearing in the call. Those are different recording approaches, not evidence that participant notification can be ignored.

The product advertises real-time and asynchronous media, participant metadata and separate audio streams. Confirm what your selected integration returns and how your application will handle it before building analysis on top.

The homepage marks the Mobile Recording SDK as coming soon, despite also listing it elsewhere among products. This article does not count that SDK as an already available recording route.

Build review and consent into the product

Recordings and transcripts can become inputs to summaries, search or other AI workflows. Inspect transcript excerpts and speaker attribution before relying on a generated output, especially when several participants speak at once.

The publisher's claims of perfect identification and highly reliable infrastructure are not independently measured findings here. The captured material also does not establish that every customer receives the same uptime or security contract.

Decide what participants will be told, who may access a recording and how long it will remain available. A low-profile desktop capture method is a product form factor, not permission to record without the appropriate authorization.

Account for each usage charge

The pricing page lists pay-as-you-go recording at 50 cents per hour for both the bot and desktop routes. The first five recording hours are free when signing up on that plan; this is not a recurring monthly five-hour allowance.

Built-in transcription is listed separately at 15 cents per hour. Third-party transcription providers may have their own terms and charges. Recording storage is free for seven days, then costs five cents per recorded hour retained for 30 days.

Billing is prorated to the second, and participant count does not change the recording rate described in the FAQ. Launch and Enterprise pricing is custom.

Recall.ai suits a bounded developer integration where recording form, consent, output handling and ongoing costs are defined. This article describes its published offering, not a tested meeting capture or authenticated API run.
