The official product description starts with an uploaded resume, then offers suggestions and role-specific application documents. You still need to check that the final resume describes your experience accurately, especially after adapting it to an employer's vocabulary.
Adapt an existing resume
JobStep lets users upload an existing resume for suggestions and an editable version. Its tools include a resume score, section-by-section AI guidance and templates the publisher describes as ATS-oriented. The FAQ says PDF is the standard export format. An ATS score is useful feedback on a document, but it does not establish whether an employer will interview its author.
Users can paste a job description to adapt the resume's keywords and emphasis. JobStep also generates a cover letter matching the resume's design. The publisher says applicants can edit the letter before exporting it, so use that step to remove claims or phrasing you would not be comfortable discussing in an interview.
Keep country guidance separate from language
JobStep distinguishes a resume's language from its target country. Its about page gives the example of an English resume intended for Germany: wording depends on language, while country-specific recommendations affect structure and content. The company says recruiters' input informs these recommendations.
A saved resume remains the starting point for later applications. The service can suggest jobs using the resume, preferences and location, although its about page warns that job suggestions are not yet available in every country. Check that availability before choosing it mainly as a job-discovery service.
Organize applications and check plan limits
The dashboard keeps roles, documents, statuses and interview dates together. This can help you find the exact document version associated with an application instead of maintaining a separate list of files.
The homepage lists a free plan with resume scoring, creation, templates and tracking. Paid plans add resume tailoring, cover-letter creation and unlimited downloads, but the retrieved page does not supply usable numeric prices for those plans. Check checkout rather than infer a subscription cost. JobStep advertises more replies among its users; Franklin has not independently verified that claim and does not treat it as a guaranteed outcome.
