ApexAPI is a third-party gateway for model APIs and web-context tools. Its homepage advertises more than 130 models across text, image, video and audio, using one key and shared balance. The gateway is separate from the model developers whose products it lists.
Check the operation and route your application needs
The documentation describes an OpenAI-compatible interface with provider/model identifiers and chat streaming. Image and video features have their own operation types and pricing units. Verify the exact endpoint, model and response behavior before assuming an existing integration will work unchanged.
The publisher describes failover for models available on multiple infrastructure routes. That is a reliability feature to evaluate, not a guarantee that every request will succeed. Test error handling and understand which route may process your data before moving private inputs into the gateway.
Inspect the billing rules for web retrieval
ApexAPI offers scrape, crawl and structured-extraction endpoints. The scrape documentation says a single-page fetch returns Markdown, HTML or text. It lists a standard route at $0.002 per page and a stealth route at $0.008 per page, with different selection behavior.
The homepage says failed web-context requests are not billed. The endpoint documentation contradicts that broad statement: a dispatched fetch is billed even when it fails, the target is unreachable or it returns no readable content. Only requests rejected before dispatch are described as free. Confirm that rule before budgeting a collection job with unreliable sources.
The same documentation says private and internal addresses are rejected and robots.txt is respected by default. Use retrieval only for sources you are authorized to access, and review the acceptable-use conditions before collecting or republishing material.
Set spending limits and review data terms
The pricing page lists no subscription tiers: one dollar buys one dollar of credits, which the publisher says do not expire. Model prices vary, and the exact request cost appears in the response and dashboard logs. Check the current price for your selected operation rather than applying one per-token figure to images, videos and scraping.
Unused credits can be refunded within 24 hours of purchase for the unspent portion, according to the FAQ. An empty balance produces a payment-required response until topped up. Review automatic top-up settings and set suitable spending controls so an agent cannot run an unintended bill.
ApexAPI advertises guardrails and team access controls. Confirm their scope and the current retention terms before sending confidential prompts or retrieved documents. A compatible API format does not establish the same privacy agreement as a direct provider account.
