Draft and revise with Gemini Apps

Gemini Apps is Google's conversational product for brainstorming, explanations and first drafts. The official user guide describes developing plans, summarizing complex topics and writing outlines or emails. On the web, you enter a prompt, optionally add a file or image, and submit it for a response.

Signed-in users can edit a prompt and regenerate the answer. Some latest responses also offer alternative drafts, although that option does not apply to responses generated using apps. Google warns that Gemini can make mistakes and advises checking responses instead of relying on them for professional advice.

Create files and choose a model

Gemini Apps can create formatted files directly from a conversation. The listed formats include Google Docs and Sheets, PDF, Word, Excel, CSV, LaTeX and several text formats. For most formats, Google describes downloading the file or exporting it to Drive. Inspect the result in the program you intend to use, especially when a table, formula or document layout matters.

The signed-in model selector offers different speed and reasoning options. The guide describes Flash-Lite for everyday summarization and brainstorming, Flash for a broader mix of tasks, and Pro for more demanding math or coding. Available choices and usage limits should be checked in your account; this product entry does not equate a Gemini Apps subscription with developer API access.

For a first evaluation, ask for a short outline based on information you can verify, revise one requirement and request a document export. Compare the file with the conversation before sharing it. This is a suggested trial, not a compatibility or answer-quality test.

Account and temporary-chat boundaries

Some text-based features work without signing in, depending on the device and location. File uploads, image generation, saved chat history and connected-service features require authentication. Work accounts need a qualifying Workspace edition and an adult user; school access depends on the institution's administrator.

Temporary chats require a signed-in personal account and are unavailable to work or school accounts. They do not appear in recent chats or Gemini Apps Activity, and you lose access after leaving. Temporary chat also excludes Gems, personalization and connected services requiring Keep Activity. That description concerns the visible chat experience; it should not be interpreted as a complete data-retention policy.

Check the applicable account controls before uploading sensitive files. The captured guide does not specify subscription prices or a universal prompt allowance.
