SystemSculpt: AI chats and meeting notes inside an Obsidian vault

In one lineSystemSculpt keeps notes and chat artifacts in Markdown, with desktop provider sign-ins and optional hosted AI.

What stays in the vault

SystemSculpt is an AI plugin for Obsidian that stores chats, notes, voice notes and meeting briefs as Markdown files in the user’s vault. The project presents file ownership as a central feature: the notes remain available when a user stops paying for its hosted service.

The plugin is open source under the MIT license. That licensing statement applies to the plugin; it should not be generalized to every model service, uploaded document or piece of generated content used through it.

Two routes to an AI conversation

On desktop, SystemSculpt can use installed, signed-in Claude Code or Codex accounts. Those providers retain their own account and usage arrangements. Optional hosted AI uses SystemSculpt and its model providers, so local Markdown storage does not imply that all processing happens on the device.

The site lists free installation and a hosted Pro plan at $9 per month, alongside a credit allowance. It distinguishes Obsidian mobile support from desktop CLI access, and describes a separate iPhone capture app as forthcoming. Planned apps should not be mistaken for available downloads.

Review edits in the workflow you choose

SystemSculpt offers an Ask before edits mode that displays changes for approval. Its Auto mode permits more autonomous note changes, with stated limits around moving and deleting notes. Claude Code and Codex retain their own rules, so permissions are not necessarily identical across all modes.

A useful first trial is a sample vault with a few non-sensitive notes. Ask for a summary with links back to the source material, inspect the resulting Markdown and review any proposed edits. That tests the practical advantage of keeping durable notes and conversations together without assuming a hosted model has perfect recall or that every requested change is safe to accept.
