Scholarcy

Condenses the research paper open in your browser into key points and flashcards, and links each citation to an open-access copy where one exists.

What it does

Scholarcy reads the research article open in your browser and produces a referenced summary with key points, flashcards and links to open-access versions of the cited works. It is meant for students and researchers screening papers or working through a literature review.

Key features

  • Summarises an open article or paper with its key points highlighted
  • Creates interactive summary flashcards from the paper
  • Finds open-access PDFs for each reference via Google Scholar, arXiv and other sources
  • Builds a background reading list for people new to a field
  • Comparative analysis showing how a paper builds on earlier research

Use cases

  • Screening a stack of papers to decide which ones deserve a full read
  • Tracing free versions of the references cited in an article

Getting started

Open a research article in Chrome and click the Scholarcy icon to generate the summary; you can choose whether it processes the page HTML or the PDF.

Good to know

The extension reads and processes the content of the current page, and PDFs must be open access. Check its Chrome Web Store page for current terms.
