Synthesia Screen Recorder

Records your screen in Chrome, transcribes your narration, trims filler words and can have an AI avatar present the video for you.

What it does

Synthesia's screen recorder captures your screen in Chrome, transcribes your narration and can have an AI avatar present the video for you. It is meant for teams making training, demo and internal videos who do not want to appear on camera or edit footage by hand.

Key features

  • Records your screen, microphone and computer audio
  • Blurs chosen elements in the tab to keep sensitive content out of the recording
  • Transcribes your voiceover and removes filler words like um and ah
  • Can have an AI avatar read your words, so no camera is needed
  • Splits the recording into scenes for later editing in Synthesia

Use cases

  • Recording a software walkthrough for new employees
  • Creating a product demo without filming yourself
  • Updating an existing tutorial video by editing the script

Getting started

Start a recording from the extension, talk through what you are showing, then open the result in Synthesia to edit, add an avatar and share.

Good to know

Editing and avatar features happen in Synthesia's web app, which requires a Synthesia account. Recordings are uploaded to Synthesia for processing.
