TransMonkey YouTube Translator

Translates the subtitles of YouTube videos and plays a dubbed voice track in your language, for videos that already have captions.

What it does

TransMonkey YouTube Translator translates a YouTube video's subtitles and plays a synchronised dubbed voice track in your chosen language. It is for viewers who want to watch foreign-language videos as if they were narrated in their own language.

Key features

  • Adds a Translate Video button below the YouTube player controls
  • Plays dubbing that stays in sync when you pause, seek or change speed
  • Generates improved AI subtitles for YouTube videos
  • Supports common languages such as English, Korean, Japanese, French and Spanish
  • Offers a choice of male and female voice styles for the dub

Use cases

  • Watching an English tutorial dubbed into your native language
  • Following a Korean or Japanese video without reading subtitles
  • Helping language learners compare original audio with a translation

Getting started

Open a YouTube video that has captions, click Translate Video under the player, choose your language and save, then click the icon again to start playback with dubbing.

Good to know

It only works on YouTube videos that already have subtitles; if the CC button is greyed out, the video cannot be translated.
