Plane Workflow MCP
Plan and review Plane work items from a coding agent, including proposals drawn from repository history.
Overview
Plane Workflow MCP connects a coding agent to a Plane workspace, including a self-hosted one. The project documentation describes using Git history to propose work items and reading overdue, stale or unassigned items before making changes. The server adds a workflow around planning, starting and completing work. Review takes place in the client. An agent can prepare a preview before it makes a write to the workspace.
Getting started
The documentation requires Python 3.11 or later, uv and a Plane API key. Configure your workspace and credentials, then register the documented plane-workflow mcp command with a stdio client.
Frequently asked questions
Can I inspect changes before writing to Plane?
Yes. The project documents preview and dry-run options. A client can review proposed work items before committing them.
Does it run a background sync?
The README says there is no background sync. The server acts when the client calls a tool.
