Nvidia is set to establish its first industrial AI cloud platform in Germany, according to CEO Jensen Huang, as announced at the VivaTech conference in Paris. This platform will integrate AI and robotics to aid car manufacturers like BMW and Mercedes-Benz in various processes, including product design simulation and logistics management.

The company plans to expand its technology centers across seven European countries and open its compute marketplace to European businesses. Moreover, Nvidia aims to assist AI model developers in multiple languages and support drug discovery efforts, such as those by Novo Nordisk. Huang emphasized the rapid growth of AI computing capacity in Europe, projecting a tenfold increase within two years.

He highlighted the importance of "AI factories," large-scale infrastructure for developing and deploying AI models, and announced plans for 20 such factories across Europe. Further demonstrating Nvidia's commitment, Huang is scheduled to meet with German officials in Berlin to discuss the initiative.

The specific location, cost, and timeline for the German AI cloud platform are yet to be disclosed. In addition to the German AI cloud, Nvidia is collaborating with the European AI champion Mistral to create AI computing solutions utilizing 18,000 of Nvidia's latest chips for European businesses.

Huang stressed the significance of "sovereign AI," asserting that no entity should outsource its intelligence. He has been actively promoting AI adoption and warning of the risks of lagging behind in the technology sector. Beyond AI, Huang reiterated his perspective on quantum computing, suggesting it is at a turning point.

He believes quantum calculations could solve complex problems that would take years for Nvidia's advanced AI systems to process. This aligns with his previous remarks about the potential of quantum computing, indicating a shift from his earlier predictions about the timeline for useful quantum computers.
