Nvidia is collaborating with Google DeepMind and Disney Research to develop Newton, an open-source physics engine designed for real-time robot simulation with enhanced precision. Newton, powered by Nvidia's Warp framework, will be optimized for robot learning and compatible with simulation frameworks like Google DeepMind’s MuJoCo and NVIDIA Isaac Lab.
Disney Research plans to utilize Newton to advance its robotic character platform, bringing more expressive characters to life. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang also announced the open-sourcing of Groot N1, the first humanoid robot foundation model, aimed at accelerating robotics development and addressing global labor shortages.
These customizable models will be available to robotics developers worldwide, marking a significant step towards generalist robotics.
