Elon Musk's xAI has launched Grok-3, a new AI chatbot designed to compete with OpenAI's GPT-4o and other leading models. XAI claims Grok-3 outperforms competitors in math, science, and coding benchmarks, boasting significantly more compute power than its predecessor. This launch intensifies the rivalry between Musk and OpenAI, fueled by Musk's previous attempts to acquire the company and his lawsuits alleging a deviation from its founding principles.
In addition to Grok-3, xAI introduced DeepSearch, a reasoning chatbot with advanced research and data analysis capabilities, and plans for a voice-based chatbot. Grok-3 is currently available to Premium+ subscribers on X, with plans for a new SuperGrok subscription and eventual open-sourcing of earlier Grok models.
