Apple Design

Design and review gesture-driven web interfaces using principles from Apple’s interface and motion talks.

Overview

Apple Design is a set of agent instructions for web interactions such as sheets, drags and swipes. It gives a reviewer concrete questions about how promptly an interface responds, how closely an element follows a finger or pointer, and whether a gesture can interrupt an animation without a jump. It also covers spring behavior, velocity handoff and where an interface should resist movement at an edge.

Getting started

Open the Apple Design skill folder in Emil Kowalski’s repository and add its instructions to an agent that supports skills. Give it the component and the interaction you want reviewed.

Things to know

The guidance concerns interaction design on the web. It describes motion behavior and design decisions. A team still needs to implement and try the interaction on the devices it supports.
