SeedRouter: a single API key for language and generated media
SeedRouter puts language, image, video and audio requests behind one API key. Its publisher describes a prepaid, usage-based service: load a balance, choose a model and pay when a result is delivered. That makes the integration worth examining if a product needs both chat responses and generated media rather than a separate account for every task.
Separate chat responses from longer media jobs
The language interface is described as OpenAI-compatible. SeedRouter says an existing SDK integration can point at its base URL and use a SeedRouter key. Images, video and audio use its task API, with longer jobs returning an identifier that can be polled or completed through a webhook.
That distinction matters when designing the surrounding application. A video request should not be treated like an immediately available chat response. Plan how the interface will represent a job's status, retrieve the returned asset and handle a failure. Test those paths with the exact model and settings you intend to offer.
The publisher also describes image editing with reference inputs, video creation from text or frames, and audio tasks including songs, voices and stem separation. Availability and accepted inputs belong to the individual model, not to the broad category label.
Read the model's rate before submitting
SeedRouter says there is no subscription or monthly minimum, and failed requests are not charged. Its catalogue uses several billing units: tokens, images and seconds of video. A headline starting price therefore cannot be compared directly across every model.
The page additionally warns that tiered models are shown at a standard rate and longer requests can settle at a higher tier. Estimate a representative request, including duration or token use, before deciding what your application's own usage allowance should cover. The dashboard is described as showing request-level costs, keys, balance and usage.
SeedRouter's model names, specifications and access claims are supplied by the service. They should not be read as proof of an official relationship with every named model developer, or as independently measured reliability. Confirm the selected endpoint's current documentation and terms before relying on it.
Decide whether you need an API or a creative workspace
A creator choosing media by hand may prefer a tool-selection interface such as Artlist's AI toolkit, where users select a media tool and model, provide inputs and download results. SeedRouter instead documents API paths, SDK configuration and task completion for integrating those jobs into a product.
For a small evaluation, choose one language request and one longer media job. Check the returned structure, completion handling and billed amount. Keep upload permissions and the applicable data and output terms in view; one shared key does not make every model's requirements interchangeable.
