GPT Cleaner

GPT Cleaner cleans text copied from AI chat tools: Unicode spaces, smart quotes and long dashes become plain characters, and other non-ASCII characters are removed. It is free and runs in your browser.

What it changes

  • U+00A0No-break, narrow no-break, en, em, thin, hair, figure, ideographic and the other Unicode spaces (U+1680, U+2000 to U+200A, U+202F, U+205F, U+3000) become ordinary spaces.
  • “ ” ‘ ’Curly double quotes become straight double quotes ("), and curly single quotes and apostrophes become straight ones (').
  • — –Em dashes, en dashes and non-breaking hyphens become a plain hyphen (-).
  • … éEvery other non-ASCII character is deleted, not replaced: the ellipsis character, zero-width spaces, bullets, emoji, symbols such as © and €, and accented letters such as é. Unicode line and paragraph separators are deleted too, not turned into line breaks.
  • A-Z 0-9Plain ASCII letters, digits, punctuation, tabs and line breaks are left exactly as they were.

What does GPT Cleaner change in my text?

It replaces Unicode space characters with normal spaces, converts smart quotes and apostrophes to regular ones, replaces em and en dashes with hyphens, and removes all other non-ASCII characters.

Does it remove emoji and accented letters?

Yes. Emoji, accented letters and every other non-ASCII character are removed, so check text in other languages after cleaning it.
