ReaderGPT

Summarises the readable text of any web page with ChatGPT using your own saved prompts, for readers with a long reading list.

What it does

ReaderGPT extracts the readable text of the page you are on and sends it to ChatGPT with one of your saved prompts to produce a summary or other output. It is meant for readers with a long reading list who want the gist of articles quickly.

Key features

  • Parses the main readable content of a web page and passes it to ChatGPT
  • Lets you build a list of your own prompts and run any of them on a page
  • Works with either your OpenAI API key or a ChatGPT login
  • Example prompts include bullet summaries, word-limited summaries and translations

Use cases

  • Reducing a long article to three bullet points before deciding to read it
  • Simplifying a technical explanation into plain language
  • Drafting a social media caption from an article's content

Getting started

Connect your ChatGPT login or paste an OpenAI API key, then open an article and click the extension to run one of your prompts.

Good to know

Page text is sent to OpenAI, and using an API key may incur usage charges on your OpenAI account. Pages with little readable text or heavy scripts may not summarise well.
