watchcron-mcp
Inspect cron monitors, create checks and review job incidents through WatchCron’s MCP integration.
Overview
WatchCron’s MCP server lets an assistant inspect scheduled-job monitors and their current state. The repository documents creating monitors, retrieving their ping URLs, reviewing recent pings and incidents, and listing notification channels. It also includes controls to update, pause, resume or delete monitors. A monitoring workflow still needs the scheduled job to send the expected ping. The assistant can help create the check and retrieve its URL, but adding that callback to the job is a separate configuration step. Schedules and grace periods determine when a missing ping becomes an incident.
Getting started
Obtain a WatchCron API key and configure the MCP server using the repository’s instructions for your client. Create or inspect a monitor, then add its ping URL to the scheduled job as documented.
Compatibility and requirements
The repository specifies Node.js 18 or newer and a WatchCron API key. It includes configuration examples for several MCP clients.
Things to know
Creating a monitor does not modify your crontab or task scheduler. Update and delete tools change monitoring configuration and should be reviewed before use.
