AI Renamer is a desktop application for naming files according to their contents. Its official page lists Mac and Windows downloads, batch processing and a preview before applying names. It is useful when a folder contains screenshots, images or documents whose existing filenames do not explain what they contain.
Set a naming rule before a batch
The app analyzes image contents and EXIF information, as well as document contents. The listed formats include JPG, PNG, GIF, WEBP, PDF, TXT and other text-based files. Custom instructions let a user specify naming patterns and formatting rules.
Start with a small copy of a folder and write a concrete convention, such as the information a name should include and its order. Inspect the proposed names before applying a batch. A descriptive suggestion can still misunderstand an image or extract the wrong date from a document.
Renaming can affect references used by another application. Keep a recoverable copy and check any links, scripts or workflows that depend on the old paths before processing a large library.
Choose the model's location
The page describes Ollama and LM Studio integration for local models. Its Ollama setup requires installing the local server, downloading a suitable model and configuring AI Renamer to connect to it. Installing the renaming app alone does not supply that model.
Local Model Package also lists OpenAI and custom-provider support. Those options do not establish offline processing: confirm the selected endpoint and model before handing it confidential files. The publisher's local-privacy claim applies to the locally running configuration, while Cloud Mode sends files for cloud processing.
Check a representative document and image with the model you intend to run. Hardware capacity, supported inputs and filename quality depend on that setup; the page does not give a universal local-model requirement.
Separate the purchase from cloud usage
Local Mode is a one-time purchase, while Cloud Mode uses pay-as-you-go credits. The page lists one cloud credit per rename operation and says those credits never expire. Cloud Mode has a stated file-size limit; the local offer describes no application file-size limit.
The page offers introductory signup credits rather than unlimited cloud access. Its FAQ lists file-storage and privacy questions without supplying the answers in the capture. Review those terms before uploading sensitive documents, and use the preview to retain control over the names you apply.
