Meetily
Meetily is a desktop meeting assistant for people who want to keep recordings under their own control. It captures system audio rather than adding a bot to the participant list. That makes its recording approach independent of whether you meet through Zoom, Teams, or another calling app. You still need participants' consent and permission under your organization's recording policy.
Local transcription and a choice of summary provider
Meetily's product documentation describes local transcription using Whisper models and local summaries through Ollama. You can also choose your own API key for summaries. In that configuration, the publisher says transcript text goes to the selected provider, while recordings stay on your device. A local-first installation and a cloud-connected summary workflow have different data handling requirements.
The app supports audio and video imports alongside live recording. Review speaker names and action items before sharing meeting notes: a plausible summary can still assign a task to the wrong person or miss a qualification in the discussion. We have not tested transcription accuracy or the publisher's latency claims.
Community versus Pro
Community is free and open source. The pricing page lists Pro at $120 per user per year, displayed as $10 per month with annual billing. Each Pro license covers one device. A 14-day trial gives access to Pro features before purchase.
Paid capabilities include speaker identification, custom summary templates, advanced exports, and integrations for assistants and scripts. Calendar integration and in-app chat with meetings are listed as coming soon, so they should not determine a purchase based on present functionality.
Exporting notes without opening every integration
Pro offers MCP access, signed webhooks, a command-line tool, and a local API. The publisher says these integrations start disabled and require activation in Settings. Use the smallest access scope that fits your workflow, especially if another assistant can read transcripts or control recording.
Meetily markets support for regulated workflows, but local storage alone does not establish your organization's compliance. Confirm retention, device security, provider settings, and consent requirements before recording sensitive discussions.
