Google AI Edge Foresight: meeting notes grounded in local work files
Connect meeting notes with the work behind them
Google AI Edge Foresight is a Mac application for meeting notes and contextual assistance. Google's embedded product page describes a workflow in which users jot short bullets and the app enriches them using the meeting transcript.
The page covers both video calls and face-to-face meetings. It says transcript and audio processing happen on the computer. Users can connect project folders, reference materials and calendar information so the assistant can retrieve context relevant to a conversation.
Examine the local retrieval and account setup
Google describes support for documents, diagrams, web links and calendar details, with local files remaining on the Mac. The product combines EmbeddingGemma 2 with Gemma 4 for an on-device retrieval-augmented generation pipeline.
Its Live Assistance mode can listen during a meeting and display context cards with citations when topics from imported files arise. The page says inference runs locally and the app works offline after setup. Foresight is optimized for Apple Silicon; these statements describe the publisher's architecture and requirements, rather than results from a Franklin performance test.
Workspace accounts have a separate access consideration. The FAQ says an administrator must enable Early Access Apps and Core Data Access for organizational use. That is an administrative decision to assess against company policy, not a setting an individual employee should assume is already enabled.
Verify the cited context before relying on it
Franklin analysis: begin with a small folder whose contents and permissions you understand. Ask questions with clear document answers, then compare each context card with the cited passage.
For a meeting trial, check whether the final notes distinguish proposals from decisions and preserve names and dates accurately. Offline inference addresses where computation occurs; it does not itself establish that a retrieved passage answers the current question or that an automatically expanded note reflects what participants agreed.
