Anam is a platform for real-time interactive AI avatars. Its official overview describes adding a face to a conversational agent through an embeddable widget or an API integration. Avatar appearance, voice, model and instructions can be configured for a persona.

Build an interaction, not a finished clip

The platform is designed for live conversations in use cases such as customer support, training and language practice. It offers an avatar library and image-based avatar creation, alongside knowledge retrieval and external tool-calling capabilities.

An avatar can make an interface more expressive, but its answers still depend on the connected agent, instructions and information. Review responses and any proposed external actions rather than treating realistic facial motion as evidence of correctness.

The homepage's engagement and latency claims are publisher figures. They do not establish the response quality or speed of your own complete application.

Establish a session safely

The JavaScript quickstart requires an API key, a modern browser with microphone access and a local web server. It describes obtaining a temporary session token, creating the SDK client and establishing a WebRTC audio/video stream.

Its minimal example places an API-key placeholder in page code and starts the conversation automatically. That is a learning example, not a reason to ship a real secret in a public page. Use an appropriate client/server architecture and deliberate user controls for a production deployment. This overview does not execute the example or enable microphone access.

Plan for how a conversation starts and ends, how permission is requested, and what happens on an error. The documentation points to conversation events as a further integration topic.

Budget by session time and access

The pricing page counts minutes for the entire active session, including time when nobody is speaking. Included minutes expire each billing period rather than rolling over. Available controls include spend caps and programmatic conversation limits.

Free access has a bounded allowance and does not include commercial usage. Commercial use begins on paid access, while removing the embedded widget watermark requires Explorer or above. Concurrent sessions, conversation length and seats are separate limits.

Zero Data Retention is listed for Enterprise, not every plan. Confirm the applicable data terms and required permissions before using real customer conversations or uploaded likenesses. This is a source-based integration overview, not an observed avatar session or a compliance certification.
