Vowen
Vowen is a desktop voice interface for dictation, meeting notes and shortcuts. It is available for Apple Silicon Macs running macOS 14 or later and x64 Windows systems running Windows 10 or later. You can begin without creating an account.
Dictate into your working app
The core workflow uses a held hotkey to capture speech and place text at your cursor. Vowen offers custom vocabulary, punctuation handling and a configurable filler-word list. Text expansions turn a spoken shortcut into a saved message, while custom instructions can adapt wording to the app where you are writing.
The publisher says basic transcription can run offline using local models. Cloud transcription and AI features are optional; the AI features require your own provider keys and internet access. The site names OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Groq, DeepSeek and OpenRouter, plus custom OpenAI-compatible endpoints. Choose local or cloud processing to match the task rather than treating all voice functions as having the same data path or cost.
Capture meetings and act by voice
Meeting features include transcription, speaker labels, summary templates and questions over saved notes. The publisher also lists PDF export, saving to Obsidian and webhooks for sending finished notes to other tools. The Pro feature list includes meeting auto-detection and chatting with notes.
Command Mode uses selected text, the active window or a captured screen region as context. Its answer can replace a selection, appear at the cursor or wait in the clipboard. Voice shortcuts can open apps, folders and websites or run a script. Review the shortcut action and the context you provide before using it in an application where an incorrect command would matter.
Free limits and Pro access
The pricing page lists unlimited voice dictation in Free. It includes seven built-in and three custom voice shortcuts, plus limited trials of other functions: ten meeting notes, ten audio or video transcriptions and five Command Mode calls per day.
Pro is displayed at $49 as a one-time purchase. It removes the listed limits on meeting notes, file transcriptions, Command Mode, voice shortcuts and custom integrations, and adds features such as transcription preview and cloud sync. The publisher offers a fourteen-day refund and lifetime updates. Enterprise uses custom terms.
Both free and paid plans use your own keys for cloud AI models. A one-time app purchase therefore does not establish free usage of an external provider. The captured pages list Linux and iOS as future availability rather than current supported downloads.
