Chrome extension

Wide GPT

Stretches ChatGPT conversations and the message box to fill your window, with a width slider and a shortcut to switch it on or off.

What it does

Wide GPT stretches ChatGPT conversations and the message box to fill your browser window in Chrome. It is for people who read long answers, code or tables in ChatGPT and want less scrolling and wasted space at the sides.

Key features

  • Expands the chat area, input box and new-chat screen to use more of the window
  • Also widens project pages, with a separate switch for each page type
  • Width slider in the popup, from the default up to full width
  • Toggles on and off from the popup or a keyboard shortcut
  • Works in both Chat and Work modes on chatgpt.com

Use cases

  • Reading wide code blocks without horizontal scrolling
  • Viewing large tables generated by ChatGPT
  • Making better use of a wide monitor

Getting started

ChatGPT switches to the wider layout as soon as it is installed; use the popup only if you want to adjust the width or change which pages are affected.

Good to know

It only changes the layout of chatgpt.com. The developer says it needs no account and tracks nothing; the shortcut can be changed in Chrome's extension shortcut settings.
