Meta has quietly entered the gaming space with the launch of Pocket, an experimental application that allows users to generate and share interactive mini-games using AI-powered text prompts. The platform, which serves as a creative hub for building and distributing these experiences—referred to as "gizmos"—features a scrollable feed where users can discover and play games created by others.
The Origins of Pocket
The development of Pocket follows Meta’s acquisition of the team behind the vibe-coded gaming platform Gizmo earlier this year. Screenshots from the Google Play Store indicate that Pocket shares significant functional similarities with the original Gizmo app, which remains listed. Both platforms utilize written AI prompts to facilitate the creation of small, interactive experiences and provide a discovery feed for community engagement.
According to data from app intelligence provider Appfigures, Pocket was launched on the App Store and Google Play on June 29, 2026. The app’s existence was brought to wider attention on July 2, 2026, when reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi shared a screenshot of the app on X. While Gizmo previously generated 635,000 lifetime installs with a 98% positive sentiment, Meta has not yet provided an official announcement regarding the debut of Pocket, suggesting the app is currently in an initial experimentation phase.
Meta’s Expanding AI Ecosystem
Pocket represents the latest effort by Meta to integrate AI-driven creation tools into its mainstream consumer offerings. The company has previously launched several initiatives in this space, including AI-generated imagery within the Meta AI app and AI-produced video content through its app, Vibes. Furthermore, Meta has incorporated various AI features across its social platforms and its video-editing tool for creators, Edits.
Despite the emergence of the app, Meta has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the project. As the app is in its early stages, current data from Appfigures does not yet indicate a specific download volume. The platform remains a notable addition to Meta’s portfolio as the company continues to explore how generative AI can be applied to social and creative gaming experiences.
