obsidian-cli
Give an agent instructions for reading, creating and managing notes through the Obsidian command-line interface.
Overview
This skill teaches an agent how to work with Obsidian through its CLI. It covers note creation and reading, appending text, searching a vault, managing properties and working with daily notes and tasks. Its instructions also explain how file names, paths and vault selection affect a command. The skill includes a separate workflow for plugin and theme development, with commands for reloading a plugin and checking errors. It uses a running Obsidian application, so it should be selected when the task involves the app and its vault rather than only editing an isolated Markdown file.
Getting started
Install the skill using the original repository’s instructions. Keep Obsidian open and ensure its CLI is available. Check the command help and select the intended vault before making changes.
Compatibility and requirements
Requires a running Obsidian instance and access to its CLI from the agent’s environment.
Things to know
Commands can read or change vault content. Choose the intended vault and file explicitly when the current selection would be ambiguous.
