obsidian-markdown

Give an agent guidance for Obsidian-specific Markdown, including wikilinks, embeds, properties and callouts.

Overview

This skill focuses on the Markdown extensions used in Obsidian notes. Its instructions explain internal wikilinks, note and media embeds, frontmatter properties, callouts and block references. It helps an agent produce notes that use the vault’s linking and presentation features instead of treating every file as generic Markdown. The documented workflow combines ordinary Markdown structure with Obsidian-specific features, then checks the result in the application’s reading view. Supporting reference files cover individual features in more detail. Standard Markdown knowledge is assumed by the skill rather than retaught throughout the instructions.

Getting started

Install the skill and its supporting files from the repository. Provide the relevant notes and intended links, then inspect the result in Obsidian’s reading view.

Compatibility and requirements

Designed for Obsidian Flavored Markdown and its extensions to CommonMark and GitHub Flavored Markdown.

Things to know

Obsidian-specific syntax may display differently in other Markdown readers. Verify that linked notes and embedded files exist in the intended vault.
