obsidian-bases
Guide an agent through creating Obsidian Bases files with filters, formulas and configured views.
Overview
The Obsidian Bases skill teaches an agent how to create .base files for database-like views of notes. Its workflow starts with a YAML file, narrows the notes with filters, optionally adds formulas and configures views and displayed properties. It includes examples of the schema and common validation problems. The instructions connect configuration to the properties already present in a vault. A useful result therefore depends on choosing filters and formulas that match the actual notes. The final check is to open the Base in Obsidian and confirm that its views render as intended.
Getting started
Install the skill from the repository and provide the relevant vault structure, properties and desired view. Check YAML syntax and referenced formulas, then open the .base file in Obsidian.
Compatibility and requirements
Requires an Obsidian environment with Bases support to use and inspect the resulting .base file.
Things to know
Filters and formulas depend on the vault’s actual properties. Missing fields, invalid quoting or undefined formulas can prevent a view from working.
