You can describe a login flow, a database schema, or a system architecture and then request changes through conversation. Its official product page describes an editor that also accepts attachments and repository inputs, so the starting point can be existing material rather than a blank canvas.
Building and refining a diagram
The service generates D2 code from your description. D2 is the underlying diagram language, and the editor exposes that code for direct changes. You can switch to code view to edit the underlying D2 code. You can also ask the AI to modify an existing diagram in natural language, which keeps the conversational workflow available after the first generation.
The publisher lists architecture diagrams, microservices, database schemas, network diagrams, flowcharts, and sequence diagrams. Automatic layout and styling handle positioning and alignment. Attachments can include images, documents, or notes, which the service converts into structured diagrams.
Working with repositories and editors
Code to Diagram accepts both public and private GitHub repositories. Public repositories work without authentication; private repositories require GitHub authentication. That distinction matters for teams evaluating the tool with an internal codebase.
The publisher also offers an MCP server for clients including Cursor, Claude Desktop, and VS Code. It describes inputs such as natural language, code, ASCII, images, and Mermaid. The homepage marks its separate Git-Native workflow as coming soon, so that item should be distinguished from the advertised repository-analysis feature.
Exports, credits, and revision history
Diagrams can be exported as PNG, SVG, or diagram code. Those formats let you choose between a rendered image and an editable code representation for documentation or a repository.
The pricing page lists a free Basic plan with 50 AI credits each month and no diagram revision history. Plus lists 250 monthly credits and 30 days of revision history; Max lists 500 credits and 90 days. The pricing FAQ says credit calculation uses AI token usage, with 1,000 tokens currently equaling one credit. It also says credits reset on the monthly billing-cycle date and that exhausted credits currently require waiting for that reset.
