Flowstep is an AI-assisted design canvas for exploring and refining interfaces. The publisher's overview describes editable screens, interactive previews, code export and collaboration. It is a design workflow to evaluate alongside development, rather than evidence that an entire application backend has been built.
Give the canvas concrete context
You can start with a product requirements document, screenshot or product URL. These inputs help explain the existing product and the change you want. Flowstep also accepts design guidelines covering colors, typography and spacing, so repeated edits have a stated style to follow.
The interface supports both chat-driven changes and direct editing of elements on the canvas. This gives a designer a way to make a specific adjustment without expressing every detail through another prompt. Review layout, content and interaction choices on the resulting screens rather than relying on the attractiveness of the first generation.
Flowstep describes interactive previews and code export. A clickable prototype is useful for discussing a journey with colleagues, while exported code provides a different handoff for developers. Neither should be treated as a substitute for checking the behavior and accessibility of the implementation that eventually ships.
Connect design and development
Flowstep's MCP server connects with Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf and Codex. The documented tasks include generating screens, editing designs and keeping guidelines in sync from an editor. This is a named integration path, not an assertion that every coding agent or configuration works automatically.
The product also supports copying frames into Figma and importing Figma frames as editable screens. Real-time collaboration and shareable clickable prototypes provide another review route when a team needs to agree on the interface before implementation.
Budget for iteration
The Free plan lists limited messages, multi-screen designs and projects without publishing numeric allowances in the captured comparison. Starter lists 80 messages per month and unlimited projects, multi-screen designs, exports and copying to Figma; Enterprise requires a discussion with the vendor.
Each prompt counts as one message; errors do not count toward the message limit. That distinction matters if your design process involves many small revisions. Check the selected billing cycle and current limits before planning a large project.
The privacy FAQ says personal data is not used for model training, while allowing aggregated and anonymized feedback to improve outputs. Review the actual policy before supplying confidential specifications or screenshots.
