In one lineGoRules is a business-rule platform with visual decision models, versioned releases, testing tools, and the embeddable open-source ZEN engine.

GoRules is a business rules engine and decision platform. Teams express logic as readable rules, decision tables, and visual flows, then run those decisions inside products or pipelines. The publisher also positions it as a decision layer behind AI agents, where an application needs defined logic for a result such as eligibility, routing, or a discount.

Model and inspect the business decision

GoRules presents inputs, decision tables, and routing on a visual canvas. The editor provides field and function autocomplete and surfaces type or syntax errors while you edit. You can run rules against sample data and scenario suites before releasing a change.

Start with a decision you can describe and verify. For example, identify the input fields a discount rule reads and the result you expect at each threshold. Test the boundaries as well as the usual case. The testing feature gives teams a place to record those expectations; it does not establish that an untested business rule is correct.

Separate authoring from execution

The open-source ZEN engine executes decision models as an embedded library or behind a REST API. The publisher describes a Rust engine with bindings for multiple languages. Its about page identifies the engine as MIT-licensed. Teams can choose the open-source engine or the wider platform, which has cloud and self-hosted paths.

The platform's version-control features include branches, visual comparisons, and rollback. Environment features promote immutable releases between development, staging, and production. Approval workflows and audit logging add controls around who changes a decision and when it reaches a running system. Their availability depends on the plan, so check the pricing comparison for the controls your team needs.

Budget for the platform and AI authoring

The captured Cloud pricing page lists a Free plan with two users, one project, and no deployment environments. It advertises evaluations through the Agent or SDK. The displayed annual prices are $2,000 per year for Pro and $6,000 per year for Business, shown as $167 and $500 per month. Prices are in US dollars and exclude VAT and sales tax.

GoRules AI uses token-based credits separately from rule evaluation. Each plan includes an allowance, and actual authoring spend depends on rule size and conversation length. The service exposes exact spend in the application's AI usage view. Use that distinction when estimating a budget: a large number of deterministic rule evaluations and a long AI-assisted authoring session have different cost drivers.
