Tale: shared projects and persistent agent sandboxes for teams
Keep people and agents in the same project
Tale is an open-source project workspace for teams working with AI agents. It brings tasks, files and conversations together, allowing work to be assigned to a person or an agent while the rest of the team follows progress.
The described workflow supplies an agent with instructions and tools, follows its work in a persistent sandbox and lets users inspect the delivered files. A project can also connect shared knowledge and workflows with conditions and actions.
Choose the runtime and the data connections
Tale supports a preferred agent runtime using a supported subscription or API-backed models. Subscription calls remain subject to the provider's own limits and bypass Tale's gateway metering and spending caps, according to the product FAQ.
The platform offers self-hosting and managed hosting. Local models can keep inference local, but external model providers, connectors and tools follow their configured connections. An offline installation also needs local dependencies and restricted outbound access; self-hosting by itself does not establish an air-gapped workflow.
The site lists roles, single sign-on, budgets, audit records and run history among its management features. The Community edition provides the feature set for self-hosted use, while Enterprise adds support and services.
Review the artifact, not just the task status
Franklin analysis: use a small project with a defined deliverable and a clear review decision. Check that the sandbox retains the files, the team can inspect them and the run history identifies what produced the result.
For a recurring workflow, inspect the trigger, permissions and approval settings before making it repeat. Also confirm which model usage is covered by Tale's budget controls and which is governed by an external subscription. This gives the team a practical basis for evaluating collaboration and oversight instead of assuming that all costs or actions are controlled by the same interface.
