Instant Multilingual Translator

Translates selected text in web pages, PDFs and text files via a shortcut or right-click, using ChatGPT, Microsoft or Google engines.

What it does

Instant Multilingual Translator translates text you select in web pages, PDFs and text files using a keyboard shortcut or the right-click menu. It is handy for readers who regularly meet foreign-language passages and want translations shown in place.

Key features

  • Translates selected text with Alt+Shift+A or a right-click menu option
  • Shows the translation directly beneath your selection
  • Offers an optional floating icon that translates a selection in one click
  • Uses ChatGPT, Microsoft Translator or Google as translation engines
  • Falls back to a popup window for PDFs and pages where inline translations cannot appear

Use cases

  • Reading a research paper PDF with sections in another language
  • Translating a single paragraph on a foreign news site

Getting started

Select text on a page and press Alt+Shift+A or right-click and choose Translate; click the toolbar button to edit the selection in a popup.

Good to know

The keyboard shortcut does not work on local PDF files, and selected text is sent to the translation service you choose.
