Kagi Search is a subscription-funded web search service. Its official homepage describes ad-free results, customization and filters, alongside Kagi Assistant and other separate web tools. The relevant distinction is between finding source pages and asking an AI assistant to interpret information drawn from search.

Inspect the sources behind an answer

Kagi describes its assistant as accessing multiple language models grounded by Kagi search results. Use the search results to inspect an original page when a claim affects a decision, especially if an answer compresses several sources into one statement.

The homepage also lists translation, article summarization and a curated Small Web collection. Those are related services, not proof that every subscription includes identical access to every tool or AI model. The Orion browser is another Kagi product rather than a prerequisite stated for using Kagi Search.

For an evaluation, run a few queries whose useful sources you already recognize, then compare the result pages and an assistant answer with those sources. This is a suggested research check, not an independent search-quality test or a set of queries we ran.

Choose search and assistant scope separately

The pricing page lists Starter with 300 searches, while Professional and Ultimate advertise unlimited search. Assistant scope changes too: Quick mode appears in lower plans, and Ultimate adds Research mode and flagship-model access.

Unlimited search does not establish unlimited assistant usage. The FAQ applies a Fair Use Policy to assistant plans and says additional payment may be needed after reaching a limit. Confirm the model and current allowance for the work you intend to do, rather than comparing only a subscription's search count.

The captured homepage advertises 150 free searches, but the pricing page and trial FAQ state 100 searches and 100 assistant interactions. Treat that discrepancy as a reason to confirm the signup allowance, not to promise the larger number.

Review privacy and billing terms

Kagi says it does not sell personal information or use personal data and prompts for AI training. Those statements are publisher policy claims, not an independent security assessment. Review the current terms before supplying confidential material to an assistant.

Monthly and annual billing are presented separately. The pricing FAQ describes credit for an unused month, which is distinct from assuming that every cancellation or usage pattern produces a refund.

No account-based search or assistant test was performed for this overview. Choose a plan around actual search volume, assistant tasks and the terms you have checked.
